What Is Scaling & Polishing?
Scaling removes the hardened plaque, called tartar, that builds up along your gum line and can't be brushed away at home. Polishing then smooths the tooth surface and removes everyday staining. Together they keep your gums healthy and your teeth looking clean.
At Dr Ray & Partners Dental in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, we clean with EMS Airflow Spa, using the Guided Biofilm Therapy method. A spray of warm water, air and fine powder does most of the work, so the clean is thorough, quicker and kinder to sensitive teeth, braces and implants.

Your clean is done on the EMS Airflow Spa, made in Switzerland by EMS, the original inventor of AIRFLOW®. It brings three cleaning tools together in one unit, so we can use the gentlest one for each part of your mouth.

We check your gums and can apply a harmless dye that shows where plaque has collected.

What patients usually want to know before Scaling & Polishing.
EMS Airflow is a cleaning system that uses warm water, air and a very fine powder to remove plaque and stains. It follows a method called Guided Biofilm Therapy, which aims to clean thoroughly with less scraping than traditional scaling.
Most patients find an Airflow clean more comfortable than the scaling they've had before. If your teeth or gums are sensitive, let us know and we'll adjust as we go.
Every six months suits most people. If you're prone to tartar or gum problems, or you wear braces, we may suggest coming a little more often.
The cost depends on how much build-up there is and whether deeper cleaning under the gums is needed. We'll tell you after checking your gums, before we begin.
