What patients usually want to know before Pediatric Dentistry.
We recommend a first visit by around your child's first birthday, or when their first teeth appear. Early visits are mostly about getting comfortable, so the dentist becomes a familiar place rather than a scary one.
Baby teeth hold space for the adult teeth underneath. If one is lost too early to decay, the neighbouring teeth can drift into the gap, which often leads to crowding and the need for braces later.
A fissure sealant is a thin, tooth-coloured coating painted onto the grooves of the back teeth, where food and bacteria tend to collect. It's quick, painless and helps protect those teeth from cavities.
We go slowly, explain everything before we do it, and never rush. A first visit can simply be a look around and a quick check. You're welcome to stay with your child throughout.
We check how your child's teeth and jaw are developing at each visit. If we see signs of crowding or a bite problem, we'll explain what we see and when it's best to act, which isn't always straight away.
