What Are Braces?
Braces are small brackets fixed to the front of your teeth, linked by a thin archwire. Over months, the wire applies gentle, steady pressure that moves your teeth into straighter, better-aligned positions and corrects how your top and bottom teeth meet.
At Dr Ray & Partners Dental in Bandar Mahkota Cheras, we mostly use the Damon System, a self-ligating brace that holds the wire without elastic ties. Dr. Ray has treated over 1,000 braces cases, and every plan starts with a scan you can see for yourself.
From first visit to finish.
Scan and assessment
We examine your bite, take X-rays and a 3D scan, and show you on screen what's causing the crowding or gaps.
Fitting your braces
We bond the brackets to your teeth and thread the archwire through. It takes about 30 minutes and you go home the same day.
Progress checks
Every 6 to 8 weeks we review your progress and adjust the wire, explaining what's changed since your last visit.
Braces off, retainer on
We remove your braces, clean and polish your teeth, show you your before-and-after photos, and fit a retainer to hold the result.

What patients usually want to know before Braces.
It varies from person to person, depending on how complex your case is and how far your teeth need to move. Your scan and treatment plan let us give you a realistic timeline before you start.
We review your progress and adjust your braces every 6 to 8 weeks. Self-ligating Damon braces have no elastic ties to replace, so these visits are usually quicker than with traditional braces.
Expect some tenderness for a few days after the braces go on and after each adjustment, while your teeth start to move. It's usually mild and settles quickly. We fit everything carefully to keep rubbing and ulcers to a minimum.
Damon braces are self-ligating: a small built-in clip holds the wire instead of the elastic ties used on regular braces. That means less friction on the teeth, fewer places for food to get stuck, and adjustments that are usually quicker.
It depends on your bite. Braces give more control over complex movements, while Angel Aligner suits most mild to moderate cases and is barely visible. After your scan, we'll tell you which one will give you the better result.
